Crush the stakes in the yoke flange nut with an appropriate punch and support the flange using tool (J 8614-01) before you loosen the yoke flange nut. Seal the replacement process by throwing out the yoke flange nut and o-ring seal after removing them together with the front output yoke flange. A flat-bladed screwdriver should be used to tap gently around the front output shaft seal of the transfer case before gently removing it with the help of the screwdriver. To install the new front output shaft seal in the transfer case use (J 37212) alongside a hammer according to the installation instructions. Replace the front output shaft with the yoke flange before putting the new yoke flange o-ring seal in place. The seal requires transfer case fluid for light lubrication. The installation process starts with affixing a new yoke flange nut to the yoke flange before binding the (J 8614-01) to it and tightening the nut to 137 nm (101 lb ft).
