2010 GMC Yukon Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2010 GMC Yukon?
A: Drain the cooling system until it falls below the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor position before sensor replacement. Begin by detaching the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the ECT sensor then take out the sensor itself. Apply GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent sealant to sensor threads during new or old sensor installation. Tighten the ECT sensor to a torque setting of 20 Nm (15 lb ft). Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector back to the ECT sensor after installing the new or old sensor. Additionally, refill the cooling system. When working with the coolant sensor handle it with caution because any damage will impact the fuel control system's performance. Replacing components with the correct part numbers combined with proper torque specifications prevents harm to the system.
