The Coolant Reservoir in Buick Century vehicles plays a very useful part of the cooling system for the vehicles' engines since it stores the extra coolant fluid so that air cannot contaminate the system and also to salvage the spilt coolant. This function is critical as, owing to the radiation, the cooling components can cause rust and corrosion, leading to antifreeze leakage, which is damaging to the environment. Buick Century models utilize two primary types of Coolant Reservoirs: and these are; Pressurized and non-pressurized. While the pressurized version has a metal cap with pressure rating information, the non-pressurized one is covered by a simple plastic cap. For the pressurized system, it can operate under high temperature and pressure, for instance in the case of a radiator, to allow for easy expansion and contraction of the coolant while in the other system, coolant gravity fed system does not work under pressure and needs the coolant operated under gravitational pull. It is suggested to check up the Coolant Reservoir periodically for crack and leakage in order to achieve and maintain good performance and lifespan of the car.

Buick Century Coolant Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on Buick Century?
    A:
You need to remove the cross vehicle brace as your first step when replacing the coolant recovery reservoir. Move the Coolant Reservoir hose clamp to the radiator overflow fitting and disconnect the hose from this fitting. Start by taking off the nuts from the shock tower studs until you remove the coolant recovery reservoir from its position between the lower retainer and shock tower studs while coolant drains into a clean container. For fitting the coolant recovery reservoir attach it to the lower retainer and shock tower studs before tightening nuts on the studs to 3.3 nm (29 inch lbs.). The reservoir hose needs cleaning water lubrication alongside a proper routing to the radiator overflow neck fitting before fitting the Coolant Reservoir hose to the radiator filler neck area while placing it flush to the neck position and properly seating the clamp between the hose and radiating fitting. Replace the Coolant Reservoir hose clamp on the radiator overflow fitting and reinstall the cross vehicle brace afterwards you should fill the coolant recovery reservoir to its correct level.
