Buick Century Power Steering Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir for the CB Series on Buick Century?
A: A static flat surface should support the hydraulic pump while its shaft points up before performing power steering reservoir replacement on the CB Series. A screwdriver should be used to rotate the retaining clip tab outside and move the reservoir clip away from the hydraulic pump assembly. The second reservoir clip needs removal through this same process before separating the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. Thoroughly remove the 0-ring seal along the reservoir neck either from the hydraulic pump housing or reservoir neck. Before adding the new 0-ring seal to the reservoir neck apply power steering fluid as a lubricant. Then place the seal onto the reservoir neck. The second step involves installing the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly while making sure the reservoir neck completely enters the assembly. Place the reservoir feet in line with the hydraulic pump housing sides and position the new reservoir retaining clips until the tabs extend properly to the hydraulic pump housing.
