The process begins by using the j 22610 service boot clamp installer to remove the tie rod end clamp from the Rack and Pinion Boot. Then cut off the boot clamp using side cutters and discard the clamp. Prior to removing the breather tube or Rack and Pinion Boot, record the breather tube's position on the gear assembly. After marking the breather tube position reverse the order by first removing the Rack and Pinion Boot and the breather tube. Prior to boot assembly install the boot clamp on the Rack and Pinion Boot. Then apply lubrication to both the inner tie rod assembly and Rack And Pinion gear assembly before fitting the Rack and Pinion Boot onto the inner tie rod assembly. Secure the breather tube in position at the Rack and Pinion Boot's molded nipple along the guide mark to achieve proper boot seating within the gear assembly groove.
