Q: How to service and repair the steering knuckle on Buick Century?
A: Before performing repairs or servicing on the Steering Knuckle users must first safely raise and adequately support the vehicle. The first step requires removal of tire and wheel assembly then front wheel drive shaft bearing. First remove the front lower control arm ball stud then use the universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) to remove the outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle. You should first scribe the strut to the knuckle before removing the bolts between strut and knuckle to extract the knuckle from the vehicle. Use the knuckle to reposition itself onto the vehicle before installing the bolts connecting the strut to the knuckle while torquing them to 122 nm (90 ft. Lbs.). Install the outer tie rod onto the Steering Knuckle before fastening the front lower control arm ball stud to the knuckle earlier mounting the front wheel drive shaft bearing. Place the tire and wheel combination back on the vehicle then lower it down.
