Buick Regal Steering Knuckle Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the steering knuckle on Buick Regal?
A: Service and repair operations for the Steering Knuckle start from elevating the vehicle correctly while providing safe support followed by tire and wheel assembly removal. Start by taking off the front wheel drive shaft bearing. Use the j 41820 ball joint/stud separator (J 41820) on the front lower control arm stud to detach it from the front Steering Knuckle while removing the front lower control arm ball stud-to-knuckle cotter pin and nut. Use the j 24319-b universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) to detach the outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle before scribing the strut to the knuckle and removing connecting bolts so you can remove the knuckle from the vehicle. The installation procedure requires fitting the knuckle onto your vehicle followed by bolting the strut to the knuckle and tightening these bolts to 123 nm (90 ft. Lbs.). Connect the outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle before adding the front lower control arm ball stud to its attachment point on the knuckle. Finally, install the front lower control arm ball stud nut until it reaches 55 nm (40 ft. Lbs.) torque while shifting the slots to match the cotter pin hole without letting the nut loosen. To finish up install the front lower control arm ball stud cotter pin then reattach the front wheel drive shaft bearing before replacing the tire with the wheel assembly followed by vehicle lowering.
