Buick Terraza Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on Buick Terraza?
A: To replace the engine Coolant Temperature Sensor you should drain some engine coolant to reach the bottom of the ect sensor. Next remove the air intake duct and disconnect the ect sensor harness connector before removing the ect sensor. While fitting the new sensor, put thread sealant gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) on the threads of the new sensor. Tap out the sensor mounting hole in the head of the engine to ensure that there is no left-over thread sealant and remove any necessary residue from the old sensor, apply rtv sealant to the threads where the old sensor is to be reused. Mount the ect sensor and tighten it with 23 n.m (17 lb ft). Reconnect the ect sensor harness connector ensuring a positive click and pull back to verify the secure engagement. Lastly, top up the engine coolant to the right level and replace the air intake duct.
