The repair starts with disconnecting the radiator air baffle and removing the engine harness electrical connector from the knock sensor. First remove the bank 1 knock sensor then loosen its mounting. Use the factory coating on the new bank 1 knock sensor without applying thread sealant since it provides proper functioning without additional materials. Sealant applied in excess will restrict the sensor from detecting detonation incidents. Secure the sensor at 25 N.m (18 lb ft) before you reconnect the engine harness electrical connector to the knock sensor. Reinstall the radiator air baffle then proceed with lowering the vehicle.
