Buick Terraza Oxygen Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 on Buick Terraza?
A: The J 39194-B Heated Oxygen Sensor Wrench (J 39194-B) must be used to remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 while maintaining the integrity of both sensor's pigtail connections since removal may damage operational functionality. The oxygen sensor requires careful handling to prevent drops while preserving both the in-line electrical connector and louvered end free from contaminants and dirt and grease. The sensor and vehicle harness connectors should never receive contact cleaner or similar materials. Additionally maintain safe conditions around the sensor pigtail and harness wires to prevent damage. Managing the lead wires by avoiding bends and keeping the oxygen sensor ground wire in position will maintain your engine performance. The vehicle harness connector peripheral seal must stay intact to stop water infiltration while you use Packard's Crimp and Splice Seals Terminal Repair Kit for fixes instead of soldering. Secure removal of the heated oxygen sensor requires engine temperatures at or above 48°C (120°F) to avoid breaking the thread connection. Turn OFF the ignition followed by vehicle lift then disconnect the sensor harness connector. Using the J 39194-B back out the heated oxygen sensor. Special thread protection comes in the form of anti-seize compound GM P/N 5613695 or its equivalent which must be applied to the heated oxygen sensor threads during installation. Embed the HO2S 2 sensor and apply 41 N.m (30 lb ft) torque while connecting its electrical connector and returning the vehicle to the ground.
