Buick Terraza Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right side exhaust manifold on Buick Terraza?
A: The process of right side Exhaust Manifold replacement starts by taking out the air cleaner outlet duct followed by the generator and Ignition Coil. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector that is attached to the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) while keeping its permanent pigtail intact to prevent sensor damage. The procedure starts with removing the ho2s and disconnecting the heater hose from heater pipes before unscrewing their nuts at the Throttle Body while relocating the pipes aside. You should start by using a wrench to remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield bolts and shield and progress to unfasten the exhaust crossover pipe to Exhaust Manifold nuts before taking off the Catalytic Converter. The sequence begins with bolt removal from the heat shield of the Exhaust Manifold and subsequent heat shield removal then moves to Exhaust Manifold bolts extraction and the Exhaust Manifold replacement. Replace the old Exhaust Manifold Gasket by adding a fresh one and install the Exhaust Manifold before torquing the bolts to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Secure the Exhaust Manifold heat shield by threading its bolts until they reach 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. Reinstall the Catalytic Converter together with the exhaust crossover pipe over the Exhaust Manifold nuts while tightening to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The exhaust crossover pipe heat shield requires attachment with its bolts which should be torqued to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Follow the heater pipe original placement before positioning the nut onto the Throttle Body to connect heater hoses. The threads of the Oxygen Sensor require nickel-based anti-seize compound from gm p/n 5613695 or equivalent before installation with a final torque value at 42 n.m (31 lb ft). The last steps include connecting the engine harness electrical connector to the ho2s while reinstalling the Ignition Coil generator and air cleaner outlet duct.
