  Q: How to replace the lower ball joint on Cadillac Catera?

  A: Before replacing the lower Ball Joint raise and secure the vehicle. Next take off the tire and wheel from the front part. Begin by taking off the lower Control Arm. After that, drill out three rivet heads with a 13mm (0.5 inch) drill to detach the ball stud from the lower Control Arm before removing the ball stud. Install the replacement ball stud onto the Control Arm by putting bolts in from above before adding new ball stud bolts following service precautions. Install and fasten the replacement ball stud with locking nuts before torquing bolts to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Install the lower Control Arm first, put back the front tire and wheel, have the vehicle lowered, then get the wheel alignment adjusted.
