How to replace the Release Hood Cable on Cadillac CTS?

Before replacing the Hood Cable start by opening the hood and removing the Hood Latch. Secure the Hood Latch connection by tying string to the Hood Cable before installing this cable through the engine area. Remove first the three fasteners that secure the hood handle to the vehicle then disconnect the Hood Cable from the handle and proceed. A second string should be tied around the cable to help with its route into position. First remove the Hood Cable grommet through the wheel opening then take out the cable from the vehicle body. Move the previously attached string to both ends of the new Hood Cable before leading both cables into the passenger space then removing the string. Insert the grommet inside the wheel opening while you connect the hood wire to the hood control. Fasten the handle to the vehicle using three fasteners at a torque level reaching 2 n.m (18 lb in). Work your way from underneath the vehicle by pulling the string and Hood Cable through the engine area until you have extracted the string. Then hook the cable to the Hood Latch before reinstalling the Hood Latch piece. Finally, close the hood.
