Before replacing the Hood Cable start by opening the hood and removing the Hood Latch. Secure the Hood Latch connection by tying string to the Hood Cable before installing this cable through the engine area. Remove first the three fasteners that secure the hood handle to the vehicle then disconnect the Hood Cable from the handle and proceed. A second string should be tied around the cable to help with its route into position. First remove the Hood Cable grommet through the wheel opening then take out the cable from the vehicle body. Move the previously attached string to both ends of the new Hood Cable before leading both cables into the passenger space then removing the string. Insert the grommet inside the wheel opening while you connect the hood wire to the hood control. Fasten the handle to the vehicle using three fasteners at a torque level reaching 2 n.m (18 lb in). Work your way from underneath the vehicle by pulling the string and Hood Cable through the engine area until you have extracted the string. Then hook the cable to the Hood Latch before reinstalling the Hood Latch piece. Finally, close the hood.

The installer removes the Hood Cable grommet out of the wheel opening followed by extraction of the Hood Cable outside of the vehicle. When ready to install the new Hood Cable the string should be moved to both ends of the new Hood Cable before guided into the passenger compartment until the string is removed. Insert the Hood Cable grommet into the wheel opening before attaching the Hood Cable to its handle. Fasten the handle to the vehicle frame by installing the three cross bolts while torquing them to 2 n.m (18 lb in). To install the Hood Cable you must pull the string while passing it across the engine compartment before removing the string and attaching the cable to the Hood Latch. Then install the Hood Latch while finishing with a hood closure.

Seat the grommet into the wheel opening and connect the hood release cable to the hood release handle.

Install the three fasteners to secure the handle to the vehicle, tightening them to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

Transfer the string to either end of the new hood release cable and route both into the passenger compartment, then remove the string.

Pull the string and the hood release cable through the engine compartment, remove the string, connect the hood release cable to the hood latch, install the hood latch, and finally close the hood.
