Specifically attend to the upper intermediate shaft to lower intermediate shaft and lower shaft coupler to steering gear input shaft relationships. Begin by removing the bolt that joins upper and lower shaft sections as well as the bolt on the lower shaft's coupler after sliding the intermediate shaft assembly toward the dash until the lower shaft's coupler clears the steering gear input shaft and separates from the upper shaft. To install the component insert the intermediate shaft's upper end into the upper shaft while also positioning the lower end of the intermediate shaft coupler. Reinstalling the same shaft requires realigning any initial marks made during disassembly. First secure the lower end of the intermediate shaft coupler to the steering gear worm shaft before bolting the lower shaft coupler and torqueing it to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.).
