When replacing the Wheel Speed Sensor of a four-wheel-drive vehicle start by raising and securing the car before taking off the tire and wheel. To begin the procedure you first need to take off the brake rotor per 1500 series instructions. Take off the wss cable from its mounts at the knuckle and upper
Control Arm before disconnecting the electrical connector at the frame attachment point. Separate the wss mounting bolt and ease it out of the hub/bearing assembly on the 2500/3500 model surfaces without forcing or breaking the sensor. To set up the fresh wss keep the hub bore sealed and rub the hub mounting area with a wire brush to prepare it for service. Also apply wheel bearing grease gm p/n 01051344 thin layer to the hub and sensor o-ring. Apply the wss unit against the hub surface and clamp the sensor bolt using a torque value of 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs). Put the tire and wheel back, reconnect the brake rotor to the 1500 series and attach the wss cable connector to its electrical terminal. Also remount wss cable retainer to its locations on knuckle, upper Control Arm and frame bracket. Complete the diagnostic system check - vehicle to verify system operations.
