The first step to replace the A/C Orifice Tube requires recovering the refrigerant from the system. A Dual O-Ring Tube Separator (J 38042) facilitates O-ring joint loosening and tubing half separation prior to removing the A/C Orifice Tube. Place 525 refrigerant on the new O-ring before installing the A/C Orifice Tube by connecting both ends of the O-ring joint. Use 24 N.m (18 lb ft) of torque to fasten the dual O-ring joint before putting the tube back into its normal position. The refrigeration system needs recharge followed by component leakage testing through the Electronic Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400) at the repaired or new parts' fittings.
