Cadillac Seville Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear compartment lid emblem/nameplate on the Northstar on Cadillac Seville?
A: Before working on the Northstar rear compartment lid you must put alignment tape over it for better positioning and to protect the surface. Heat your J 25070 Heat Gun on the emblem/nameplate for 30 seconds with circular motions. Use a plastic flat tool to slowly take off the emblem/nameplate from its mounted position. Before putting in the replacement emblem/nameplate you must purge all glue residue from the panel surface. Apply body panels with 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk P/N 07502 or similar product. Plastic panels need a lint-free cloth and VMP naphtha or water/isopropyl alcohol mixture. The installation area must be free of moisture and dirt before you tape and mark where the emblem/nameplate should go. Apply the J 25070 to warm the surface area to 27-41°C (80-105°F). Stick the emblem/nameplate onto the surface when its temperature reaches 85-90°F (29-32°C) without handling the adhesive side. Place the emblem/nameplate on top of the mounting surface based on its position marks. Press it down gently until it sticks evenly across the entire surface area. End the process by pulling off the protective tape from the installation area.
