Chevrolet Camaro Oxygen Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the Heated Oxygen Sensors (Bank 1 HO2S 1 and Bank 2 HO2S 1) on Chevrolet Camaro?
A: Service procedures for heated oxygen sensors (Bank 1 HO2S 1 and Bank 2 HO2S 1) require the sensor to maintain pigtail and connector attachment to prevent impact on functionality. You need to handle the sensor gently in order to maintain the in-line electrical connector and louvered end clear of dirt and grease and chemical-free from contaminants during removal. The sensor becomes challenging to take out when engine temperature remains below 48°c (120°F) since using too much strength can harm Exhaust Manifold threads along with pipe threads. Start by supporting the vehicle then detach the electrical connector of the ho2s before slowly removing the heated Oxygen Sensor. To make future removal easier the installation process requires application of p/n 5613695 anti-seize compound to heated Oxygen Sensor threads where the compound combines graphite and glass beads to help sensor removal. Tighten the heated Oxygen Sensor by hand to 42 n.m (31 lb ft) torque spec after connecting the ho2s electrical connector.
