How did GM engineers design the fixed antenna to withstand car washes and How to its removal and installation on Chevrolet Cavalier?

The fixed antenna engineers had thought was to be able to survive most car washes without suffering a scratch and it is impossible to turn it up or down. If the mast is bent a little, it can be straightened by hand or even by the pulling of hand but when it is bent much, the antenna is replaced. The first step is to take out the antenna-mast from the base then take off the lead-in from the antenna, detach the and the bracket from the bezel and take off the screws holding the bracket to the bezel. Then remove the bezel. For installation, begin by mouting the bezel on the quarter panel, then attach the lead-in to the bracket and then mount the bracket to the bezel. Make sure that the bracket retaining screws are tightened to 2 N.m (18 lb in) and the final step would be mounting the antenna mast on the base.
