Chevrolet Cavalier Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: You should start Coolant Reservoir service by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and draining the cooling system before collecting the coolant. First disconnect the low coolant connector and remove the Radiator surge tank bolt before the tank and disconnect each hose and the low coolant switch connector from the surge tank and finally separate the coolant return hose. To install the components you must connect the low coolant switch to the tank before reinstalling the tank on the vehicle. After installing the bolt with a torque of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.), connect the coolant return hose and the hoses to the Radiator surge tank before finishing with the low coolant connector. Reconnect the negative Battery Cable after filling the Radiator surge tank cooling system and complete leak inspection. Vehicle maintenance requires dex-cool (R) coolant due to prevention of early engine damage and Heater Core and Radiator corrosion. However, adding silicated coolant necessitates changing engine coolant before 50,000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.
