Chevrolet Classic Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Brake Light Switch on Chevrolet Classic?
    A:
Start your stop lamp switch replacement by taking off the left i/p insulator and unconnecting its three and four connections. Use counterclockwise motion to turn the stop lamp switch until it reaches its travel position then pull it away from the holder. After inserting the switch into its position always keep Brake Pedal attached to power booster rod so installation can proceed without touching it. Push the stop lamp switch into the retainer while guiding the plunger barrel at least 2 to 3 lbs to prevent misadjustment due to Brake Pedal bracket flexing. Turn the stop lamp switch clockwise to reach its travel stop but test with a feeler gauge to ensure that the plunger extends only between 0.0 mm (0.0 in) and 2.0 mm (0.78 in) away from Brake Pedal bracket . After installing the stop lamp switch use electrical connectors to connect it and place back the left insulation panel.
