First disable the sir system before replacing the air bag clock spring. Follow all security steps carefully. Remove the inflatable restraint
Steering Wheel module and Steering Wheel nut while recording the alignment details between
Steering Shaft and Steering Wheel. Start by removing the Steering Wheel followed by stripping the column trims and wire harness straps off the Steering Wheel column harness. Begin by taking out the instrument panel carrier before unconnecting the sir harness at the fuse panel rear. Disassemble the retaining ring then remove the air bag clock spring from the Steering Shaft but discard the old one when making a replacement. During setup point the wheels forward while placing block tooth and centering mark on race and upper shaft assembly precisely at the top position. The new air bag clock spring comes ready-to-install with pre-aligned settings. Do not remove the centering tab until after the installation process is finished. Slide the new air bag clock spring onto the Steering Shaft assembly after aligning this assembly with the horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Seat the retaining ring tightly into the Steering Shaft assembly groove and discard the centering tab from the new air bag clock spring when installation is finished. Route the sir harness at the fuse panel rear side while installing the instrument panel carrier and steering column trim covers. Position all wiring through the Steering Wheel then match up the Steering Wheel's mark with the Steering Shaft before fixing it onto the shaft. Tighten the Steering Wheel nut to 41 n.m (30 lb ft) and then install the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module before enabling the sir system.
