Chevrolet Classic Dimmer Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Safely Replace the Dimmer Switch on a Chevrolet Classic?
A: A procedure to change instrument panel (I/P) Dimmer Switch begins with disabling sir system operation. First remove the instrument panel (I/P) cluster trim plate which sits on the i/p carrier then disconnect the electrical connector from the Hazard Warning Switch when needed. Open the electrical tap from the Dimmer Switch then activate the retaining clips by using a small flat-bladed instrument from the Dimmer Switch's front side. Using your fingers remove the i/p cluster trim plate Dimmer Switch by pushing outward from the front panel position. Position the Dimmer Switch into the opening on the i/p cluster trim plate then push it inside until the assembly reaches its full position. Reconnect the electrical connector to both the Dimmer Switch and Hazard Warning Switch when reinstalling. End your installation by fitting the i/p trim plate onto the i/p carrier followed by enabling the sir system.
