For complementary use of the intermediate Steering Shaft, make sure there is no
Steering Column in lock before disengaging the Steering Column, Steering Shaft coupling, intermediate shaft, and lower Steering Shaft. Once these components are disconnected, do not move the front tires and wheels so as not to cause improper alignment and damage to the sir coil. Start by removing the driver's insulator panel and the intermediate shaft seal, and then remove the pinch bolt at the intermediate shaft. Remove the intermediate Steering Shaft connection from the Steering Column, hoist the vehicle, take out the left front tire and wheel. Keep the front wheels in the straight-ahead position and the Steering Column in the lock position before disconnecting the intermediate shaft seal from the steering gear. Loosen intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt and disconnect intermediate shaft from steering gear then remove intermediate shaft from the vehicle to agree to the instruction. For installation if the Steering Column to cowl panel seal is damaged replace it to avoid carbon monoxide getting into the vehicle. Mount the intermediate shaft on the steering gear and tighten the intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt to the torque of 17 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Mount the intermediate shaft seal to the steering gear , replace the left front tire and wheel, and lift up the car. Connect intermediate shaft on the Steering Column and install the intermediate shaft upper pinch bolt and tighten to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs). Lastly, connect the intermediate shaft seal to the Steering Column and the driver side insulator panel.
