Chevrolet Classic Power Steering Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir on Chevrolet Classic?
A: The power steering reservoir replacement process should start by fixing the hydraulic pump vertically with its shaft pointing upwards against a stable surface. The screwdriver should be used to extend the retaining clip tab before sliding the reservoir clip away from the hydraulic pump assembly. The procedure should be repeated for the second reservoir clip before extracting the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. Remove the O-ring seal that should be discarded either from the reservoir neck or inside the hydraulic pump housing. Before installation of the new O-ring seal place power steering fluid on it then position the seal onto the reservoir neck. Secure the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly by making sure its neck completely reaches the inner compartment before finishing installation. Place the reservoir feet directly on the hydraulic pump housing sides when you mount the new retaining clips provided with the pump until they connect completely with the housing.
