Chevrolet Colorado Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing and hub on Chevrolet Colorado?
A: To begin the replacement of the front Wheel Bearing and hub you must elevate the vehicle through proper techniques. Disconnect the brake caliper before removing it from the vehicle. Then slide off the speed sensor's electrical connector pieces and its bracket while keeping the speed sensor wire bundle neat from suspension parts. To work on the 4 wheel drive fixtures you must take off the Steering Knuckle. Separate the Wheel Bearing/hub and brake rotor assembly by unscrewing all its mounting bolts and remove the assembly from the Steering Knuckle. Perform the task by removing the brake rotor from its flat surface while disengaging the mounting bolt between the Wheel Bearing/hub and brake rotor. Detach the splash shield from the Steering Knuckle during this process. Narrow the Wheel Bearing/hub mounting bolt's contact area before fitting the Wheel Bearing/hub assembler with brake rotor. Install the mounting bolts first and tighten them crosswise to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Place the backing plate on the Wheel Bearing/hub and brake rotor assembly before installing the Steering Knuckle assembly. Install the Wheel Bearing/hub and brake rotor into the Steering Knuckle but avoid using air tools when tightening the hub bolts to the brake rotor. Secure Wheel Bearing/hub and brake rotor bolts to 125 nm (92 lb ft) torque, then connect brake caliper mounting bracket to Steering Knuckle and tighten its bolts to 175 nm (129 lb ft). Press the screwdriver or pry bar into the fins of the brake rotor and mounting bracket to make sure the brake rotor fits perfectly on the Wheel Bearing hub before tightening the rotor bolts to 81 lb ft in a specific order. Replace the speed sensor bracket and attach its power wire then verify hub/rotor/bearing tolerances. Install brake caliper components and the speed sensor onto the vehicle before lowering it to ground.
