One of the most important engine parts that play a huge role in improving the reliability of Chevrolet's popular K3500 series is the Camshaft Position Sensor of the Chevrolet K3500. This sensor superbly tracks the position and speed of the camshaft and subsequently sends all this data to the engine control module (ECM) with a view of efficiency in the fuel injection and ignition. As Camshaft Position Sensor regulates the co-ordination between the camshaft and crankshaft to reduce time- related in accuracies, it often acts as a crucial factor in improving the efforts made by Chevrolet for making the K3500 powerful and safe especially when it is coming with variable valve timing. This sensor is compatible with K3500 models made from 1988 to 2002, and Due to its reliability and durability, this sensor can perfectly suit both an average driver and the one who use Chevrolet K3500 for his professional purposes. Due to its location above the cam shaft, or sometimes positioned at the back of the cylinder head, the information it takes and gives are very essential for the optimal performance of the vehicle's engine. The Camshaft Position Sensor can be said to be unique in the automotive market regarding its construction and reliability as these two factors are critical in avoiding the woes related to faulty sensors. As a functional component that contributes to efficiently improved fuel mileage and safety, the Camshaft Position Sensor plays an important role in the K3500 architecture comprising the company's signature strength and innovation.

Chevrolet K3500 Camshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the camshaft position sensor on Chevrolet K3500?
    A:
The service process for the camshaft position (CMP) sensor begins with negative Battery Cable removal and then Ignition Coil extraction. Begin the procedure by unwiring the Spark Plug Wires that are located on one side of the Distributor Cap and place these wires to the side. Begin by disconnecting the electrical connector of the camshaft sensor and afterward remove all Distributor Cap screws and the cap itself. The two rotor screws must be removed before you can detach the rotor. The square-cut hole in the rotor vane should be placed directly over the cmp sensor during this process. Unscrew the two screws that attach the cmp sensor to the distributor and proceed to remove the sensor from its place. New Distributor Cap screws and cmp sensor screws along with rotor screws can be bought separately as p/n 10475922 and p/n 10475924 in packages containing 10 screws each. The cmp sensor should be placed within the distributor where new installed screws using a thread locking compound should be tightened to 2.2 n.m (19 lb in). The rotor needs new screws which should be tightened to 1.9 n.m (18 lb in) after installation. Install the Distributor Cap by using new screws which you should tighten to 2.4 n.m (22 lb in). Complete the installation by reconnecting the cmp sensor electrical connector then reinstalling Spark Plug Wires to the Distributor Cap as well as installing the Ignition Coil before reconnecting the negative cable.
