How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

A driver should disconnect the negative Battery Cable before replacing the Ignition Lock Cylinder. Start by removing the instrument panel cluster trim plate and insert your key to turn the Ignition Lock Cylinder into the on/run position. Angle your wrench to reach beneath the detent located at the cylinder on the ignition lock. This access point is right of the switch when looking from inside the i/p. You can easily reach the Ignition Switch by dropping it lower if you need better access. Use the key to help remove the lock cylinder from the switch before taking the key out of the cylinder. Track a new ignition procedure if the cylinder stops rotating or becomes stuck. To begin installation process start by coding the Ignition Lock Cylinder when needed while inserting the key afterward turning it to the on/run position. Position the lock cylinder onto the Ignition Switch while pressing down onto it until it reaches its final placement. Also normalize the white colored Ignition Switch rotor position by checking for proper alignment when the key made slight rotation during lock removal. For installation place the key in off position then remove the key before installing the i/p cluster trim plate together with reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Perform bcm theft deterrent relearn procedures after installing a new lock cylinder.
