Q: How to replace the Power Steering Cooler without hydroboost on Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: Before you can replace the Power Steering Cooler without hydroboost, remove the radiator grille. You should next drain as much power steering fluid from the reservoir as you can, and put drain pans under the vehicle. Take off the power steering gear outlet hose from the cooler and pull the cooler hose off the Power Steering Pump. Loosen and take out the bolts on the Power Steering Cooler, then take the cooler out of your vehicle. When installing, put the new Power Steering Cooler in place and fasten it with the bolts, tightening them to 9 nm (80 lb in). Fit the Power Steering Cooler hose onto the Power Steering Pump and the outlet hose from the power steering gear to the Power Steering Cooler. Make sure to clean any extra fluid and take away the drain pans, afterward fill and bleed the power steering system. Finally, reinstall the radiator grille.
