In order to replace the engine front cover, one should first loosen the engine
Oil Pan, then disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector, and then remove the crankshaft balancer followed by the
Water Pump. Afterward, remove the ckp sensor and its gasket (0-ring), which has to be disposed of. Remove the engine front cover bolts and when the composite engine front cover is removed, ensure to iinstal a new engine front cover in place of the old one is used. Clean all sealing surfaces before replacing the new engine front cover and fastening it using the engine front cover bolts, tightening to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). It is very important not to use the original
Crankshaft Position Sensor seal (0-ring); make sure the new seal is lubricated with a clean engine oil prior to installing it onto the Crankshaft Position Sensor. The ckp sensor should be followed by the engine Oil Pan, then reconnect the ckp sensor electrical connector, and finally, install the Water Pump and crankshaft balancer.
