How to replace a water pump on Chevrolet S10?

You must empty the cooling system first before loosening the Water Pump's pulley bolts so you can remove both the cooling fan assembly and clutch components plus the Drive Belt. You need to disconnect the Water Pump Pulley bolts to access both the bolts and the pulley. Unbolt and remove the Water Pump gaskets along with the Water Pump assembly from the engine by starting with your hand on the Water Pump outlet hose bolts and hose. Prepare the gasket surfaces by cleaning then apply new Water Pump gaskets and fix the Water Pump in place over the engine. Thread the mounting bolts through the new Water Pump before securing them with a sealant (GM P/N 12346004) and tightening them to 41 nm (30 ft.lbs.). Join the radiator outlet hose to the Water Pump unit before installing the Water Pump Pulley and tightening its bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Reassemble the Drive Belt but remember to install the fan clutch first then top up the radiator cooling system and look for fluid escapes.
