In order to change the cover of the engine you should remove the pump of water then remove the bolts of
Oil Pan to the front cover and then bolts for the front cover. Next, remove the front cover and gasket and throw away the gasket used. If required, clean and check the engine front cover. Care must be taken never to reuse the crankshaft oil seal or front cover gasket and that sealant should not be used on the front cover gasket unless directed to do so. Applying a 5mm (0.20 inch) bead of sealant gm p/n12378190, or equivalent should be applied to the Oil Pan to engine block junction. Mount the new front cover gasket and cover, just tight enough with the front cover bolts without overtightening. Do this for Oil Pan-to-front cover bolts. Apply the front and rear cover alignment tool (J 41476) to properly align the crankshaft front oil seal so that all gasket surfaces are clean of oil or foreign matter. Tighten Oil Pan to front cover to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) and engine front cover to 25 nm, (18ft. Lbs.). Remove the j41476 and then install new crankshaft front oil seal to finish with reinstalling the
Water Pump.
