Chevrolet SSR A/C Expansion Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on Chevrolet SSR?
A: Before replacing the thermal expansion valve (TXV), cleaning professionals must first retrieve the refrigerant from the system. Start by removing the nut which holds the txv in position on its mounting stud and disconnect the compressor hose assembly from the txv unit. Begin by removing the txv bolts followed by the thermal expansion valve itself after discarding old seal washers from the storage. Apply new seal washers to evaporator core fittings after which you should install the txv based on the fastener notice in service precautions. Fasten the txv into position using bolts which should reach a torque level of 7 n.m (62 lb in). You should install new sealing washers on the compressor hose assembly and attach it to the txv before tightening the txv nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The refrigerant system evacuation leads to charging then the fittings need a leak test with an halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
