Chevrolet SSR Seat Cushion Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the front seat cushion pad and cover on Chevrolet SSR?
A: The replacement process of front seat cushion cover and pad starts by taking out the front seat assembly from the vehicle. The first step includes taking off the front finish panel then proceeding to remove the seat cushion outer trim panel and the seat switch bezel. The memory seat control module must be taken out. The removal process requires disconnection of both j-strip that secures the frame to the rear of the seat cushion cover along with the frame-attached push pins securing the seat cover. The process includes pulling back the harness through the seat adjuster assembly hole after disconnecting the black electrical connector from the seat belt buckle. The first step involves removing the seat belt buckle bolt. Pass through the seat belt buckle assembly by removing it through the opening in the seat cushion. Detach the frame's two push pins located on each side of the seat cushion. The seat cushion heater electrical connector needs disconnecting when the vehicle has this equipment while releasing the front j-strip. First remove the seat cushion cover along with its pad from the frame by unfastening the hog rings that secure them together. Next dismantle the cover from its associated pad. Remove the seat cover from the pad before peeling off the heater element from the pad while pulling the heater element electrical harness through its hole. To mount the heater element users must first push the electrical harness through the hole located on the pad surface before applying the adhesive-backing onto the pad surface. Fitting the seat cushion to its frame requires attaching hog rings to the seat cover rod for securing the pad . Also reattach the seat cover over the pad using similar hog rings . The seat cushion heater electrical connector should connect after performing a side-to-side motion to carefully fit the seat cover over the frame and installing the front j-strip. Push the seat cushion cover to the frame together with push pins then feed the seat belt buckle assembly through its slot in the cover while tightening the seat belt buckle bolt to 55 n.m (41 lb ft). The seat adjuster shaft requires the seat belt buckle electrical harness before the connection of its corresponding connector. To complete the process you must place the rear seat cover flaps using push pins and attach the j-strip to the frame before reinstalling the memory seat control module and seat switch bezel and front finish panel and seat cushion outer trim panel as well as the front seat assembly onto the vehicle.
