Chevrolet Tahoe ABS Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on Chevrolet Tahoe?
A: The first step to replace an ABS Control Module (ABSCM) requires setting the ignition switch to OFF to avoid damaging both ABSCM and EBTCM units. The technician should elevate the vehicle for maintenance before they disassemble the ABS module splash shield retainer system and then remove the splash shield itself. First clean the ABSCM alongside the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) before disconnecting the ABSCM electrical connector. Turn down the ABSCM bolts but keep them in place before slowly pulling the ABSCM in an even manner away from the BPMV to detach the electrical connectors. Unfasten the ABSCM bolts before extraction of the ABSCM unit. Position the ABSCM at the BPMV and verify its alignment before tightening the ABSCM bolts in an X pattern to 3 Nm (27 lb in). After connecting the ABSCM electrical connector it should be followed by ABSCM programming and sensor as well as boost valve calibration and ABSCM learn procedures when installing a new ABSCM. To complete the repair install the ABS module splash shield taking care to fasten it with bolts that should be tightened to 20 Nm (15 lb ft) then install the splash shield retainers.
