Chevrolet Tahoe Spark Plug Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the right side spark plug(s) safely and correctly on Chevrolet Tahoe?
A: The first step for right side Spark Plug(s) replacement requires removal of the right front wheelhouse liner and wheel opening access for the Spark Plug(s). The first step of any high voltage servicing procedure requires running the high voltage disabling procedure while utilizing personal protection equipment (PPE) to ensure safe operations and prevent severe harm or death. The required procedure mandates personnel to learn about voltage disabling methods while conducting voltage tests and understanding what specific scenarios equate to permanent voltage presence. Begin by disconnecting the service and afterward remove the Spark Plug wire through a 1/2 turn twist motion on the boot while pulling only at the boot. Before taking out the Spark Plug you should clean away dirt surrounding it by using either a brush or compressed air. Single plugs should be placed in trays according to cylinder numbers when multiple plug removal tasks occur. Place the Spark Plug washer correctly during installation after inspecting the Spark Plug gap and adjusting it if necessary and starting the Spark Plug by hand into the designated cylinder. The technician should install the Spark Plug while applying 15 nm (11 lb ft) torque and replace the Spark Plug wire by applying pressure sideways on each boot to confirm seating then replacing loose boot positions. The procedure requires reinstallation of the right front wheelhouse liner along with performing the service reconnect after replacing spark plugs on the right side.
