How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on Chevrolet Tahoe?

The first step for camshaft position sensor replacement consists of cleaning around the CMP sensor because dirt might enter the engine. Support the vehicle when elevated and proceed to remove the engine shield. Remove the electrical connector from the engine wiring harness on the CMP sensor wire harness and from the CMP sensor wire harness on the CMP actuator magnet. Use a box wrench to unscrew the CMP sensor wire harness bolt through the crankshaft balancer opening by turning it 2 times before proceeding to remove the additional 2 wires. Use a small tool to pull off the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connector retainer before taking out the CMP sensor wire harness and CMP sensor together with the O-ring seal. Check the O-ring seal for any damage. When the seal is intact, apply clean engine oil on it and fit it onto the sensor. Attach the CMP sensor first to the front cover with following installation of the CMP sensor wire harness. Ensure the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connector has its retainer completely enclose the CMP sensor. After supporting the vehicle restore its height and install and tighten the two rear CMP sensor wire harness bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in). Conduct bolt tightening through the crankshaft balancer opening with a box wrench on the CMP sensor wire harness followed by connector attachments of CMP sensor wire harness electrical connectors to CMP actuator magnet and engine wiring harness electrical connector to CMP sensor wire harness. Finally, install the engine shield.
