Chevrolet Venture A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in a system on Chevrolet Venture?
A: Start by taking off the air cleaner cover together with the duct assembly before you begin refrigerant recovery. Immediately use caps or tape to seal open a/c lines to stop system contamination. You should cut the evaporator line from its attachment to the condenser before throwing away the o-ring seal but capping or taping the line and condenser. The process continues by disconnecting compressor lines from the condenser at the same time while using new o-rings since both require discard and line and condenser caps or tape installation. Lastly remove the condenser from the vehicle. Installation of new condensers requires attachment of rubber insulators to the ends of all components. Position the condenser then remove protective caps or tape applied to the evaporator line and compressor line and condenser. Use a lint-free dry clean cloth to remove dust from the a/c line seals before the condenser fittings. Mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil must lightly coat o-ring seals before use but must not enter the system. The new o-ring seal should be slid along the evaporator line and compressor line until it seats just right yet leaving a thin layer of refrigerant oil to remain on the indicated compressor line section. Tighten the bolt on the condenser's compressor line block fitting to 16 n.m (11 lb ft) before attaching the liquid line fitting to the condenser with a 27 n.m (20 lb ft) torque. To complete the repair the Radiator needs to be installed first followed by system evacuation and charging then the a/c needs to undergo a leakage test. Complete the installation by putting on the air cleaner cover together with the duct assembly.
