GMC Canyon Back Up Light Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to properly install a Back Up Light Switch on GMC Canyon?
A: The first step to replace the back up lamp switch requires vehicle elevation and support. Begin by disconnecting the back up lamp switch electrical connector at the pigtail then remove the strap that holds the pigtail to the transmission. The back up lamp switch removal requires separate removal of both the aluminum washer and the switch itself. Use a new aluminum washer when installing the back up lamp switch into the transmission case. Torque the switch to 44 nm (32 lb ft). Reconnect the back up lamp switch electrical connector at the pigtail after securing the pigtail to the transmission through the tie strap then lower the vehicle.
