Installation of a new latch/support cable assembly on the endgate begins with endgate opening and support before removing the endgate cover. Remove both retaining clips from the latch rods before taking out the rods from their retaining points. The support cable needs to be pulled forward away from the endgate striker bolt head before the bolts securing the latch/support cable assembly can be removed from the endgate. Position the latch/support cable assembly to the endgate by orienting the latch rod toward the endgate handle properly during installation. Orbit the bolts onto the latch assembly before tightening them to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The support cable must be fastened to the endgate striker bolt's head before placing latch rods through retaining clips which should attach to the endgate handle. Reinstall the endgate cover while also finishing up by closing the endgate.
