Rear main seal installer (J 35621-B). Start by detaching both the Transmission Assembly along with the engine Flywheel. Proper tool insertion into access notches enables safe removal of the Crankshaft rear oil seal from its housing. Throw out the previous bearing seal while cleaning all the dirt and rust away from the installation area. For installation you should apply 2 to 3 drops of clean engine oil to four components: the bore of the Crankshaft rear oil seal housing, the outside diameter of the engine Flywheel pilot flange, the outside diameter of the Flywheel locator pin and the Crankshaft Seal surface. Check the j 35621-b flange for damage then remove minor imperfections with emery cloth while ensuring the seal lip surface avoids oil and lubricant contact during inspection. Apply a tiny oil drop (2 to 3 drops) from a clean oil source to the outside edge of the Crankshaft rear oil seal before installing the unit. First install the Crankshaft rear oil seal onto both the j 35621-b tool as well as the Crankshaft rear surface with hand torque on the tool bolts until they become snug. Proper alignment stands as a vital requirement during Crankshaft rear oil seal installation. Proper installation requires positioning the Crankshaft rear oil seal near flush with the housing while being square to the Crankshaft rear seal housing to minimize failure.
