    Q:
How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on Chevrolet Blazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the crankshaft rear oil seal, you should first remove the Transmission Assembly and the engine Flywheel. Next, with a suitable tool, remove the crankshaft rear oil seal with care from the crankshaft rear oil seal housing, discard the old oil seal and clean the surroundings of the location of any dirt or rust material. Attack a small quantity (2 to 3 drops) of clean engine oil around bore of the crankshaft rear oil seal housing, the outside diameter of the engine Flywheel pilot flange, the outside diameter of the Flywheel pilot flange, and the Crankshaft Seal surface. Examine the flange of the j 35621-b rear main seal installer (J 35621-B) for imperfections and remove minor ones with smooth grade emery cloth while ensuring that oil or lubricants do not get into the seal lip surface. Thereafter, take the sleeve from the crankshaft rear oil seal and lubricate it with a clean engine oil drop (2 to 3 drops) on its outer diameter. Put the crankshaft rear oil seal on the j 35621-b and put this on the rear of the crankshaft and tighten the tool bolt by hand until snug. Proper alignment is critical; keep the seal close to flush and square to the housing. Turn the j 35621-b wing nut until the seal is properly installed, experience stronger resistance when it comes to bottom of the housing bore. Unscrew the wing nut in the opposite direction, and take off the j 35621-b from the crankshaft. Remove any extra engine oil with the help of a clean rag before putting back the engine Flywheel, and the Transmission Assembly.

    Q:
How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before installing a new crankshaft rear oil seal you must remove the Flywheel. A flat-tipped screwdriver should be used to separate the seal from its housing while you dispose of it after you clean any residue in that area. Two to three drops of clean engine oil need to be applied to the housing bore and the outside diameters of both the engine Flywheel pilot flange and Flywheel locator pin as well as to the Crankshaft Seal surface. The new design reverse-sealed this side out marked component represents the new style. Examine the j 35621-b rear main seal installer (J 35621-B) flange for surface imperfections then smooth them down with fine grade emery cloth. You should prevent the seal lip area from touching any lubricants or oil. Swing the protective sleeve off the seal before applying 2 to 3 drops of clean engine oil onto the outside diameter. First install the j 35621-b and its attached seal against the crankshaft's rear side before tightening its tool bolts by hand until they are evenly snug. Correct positioning of the crankshaft rear oil seal demands absolute precision. Installation must occur near flush while maintaining a square relationship with the housing. Use constant clockwise pressure on the j 35621-b wing nut to drive the seal against the housing bore until you feel increasing torque before reaching the lowest housing position. After turning the wing nut clockwise to release the j 35621-b you should remove it and then clean any remaining engine oil from the tool with a new rag before reinstalling the engine Flywheel.
