GMC Jimmy Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the front wheel bearing and hub on GMC Jimmy?
A: Services on the front Wheel Bearing and hub begin with putting your vehicle on safety stands while raised. To begin service disconnect the Torsion Bar before taking apart the wheel unit. Use the brake before undoing the Wheel Hub hub and washer. Depart the rotor first but keep the halfshaft and Wheel Hub connected by using a hammer and brass drift to strike the halfshaft's outer end. Never attempt to separate the halfshaft now. Take out the two Wheel Speed Sensor bolts and remove the sensor from the Wheel Hub and bearing. Unfasten the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly from the Steering Knuckle using the bolts while setting it on the outboard hub bolts to shield the bearing seal. Take off the splash shield from the Steering Knuckle and pull out the Wheel Hub and bearing seal from the unit. Insert the Wheel Hub and bearing seal first on the assembly then position the splash shield onto the Steering Knuckle with correct alignment. Connect the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly with the Steering Knuckle by aligning threading and tightening mounting bolts to 105 nm (77 ft. Lbs.). Fasten the Wheel Speed Sensor to the Wheel Hub by tightening its mounting bolt at 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Place the rotor back in place and press the Brake Pedal. Add the drive axle washer and nut and fasten it with a torque of 140 nm (103 ft. Lbs.). End the job by putting back the tire and wheel unit then adding weight to the Torsion Bar to bring down the vehicle.
