GMC Jimmy Brake Calipers Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear brake calipers bracket on GMC Jimmy?
A: The replacement of the rear Brake Caliper Bracket requires users to start by draining 2/3 of the brake fluid from the master cylinder followed by vehicle elevation along with support. You should inspect caliper operation after tire wheel removal. Use this sequence to take out the caliper brackets then unscrew its bolts followed by unfastening the caliper bracket from its mounting position. After inspection of both caliper and caliper bracket you should install the caliper bracket to the mounting plate and tighten caliper bracket bolts to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Then you can install the caliper then put back the tire and wheel before removing the safety stands and lowering the vehicle. Use the Brake Pedal to achieve about two-thirds of its available range when the engine is in the off position followed by a gradual release of pressure. Continuously repeat the preceding methods for 15 seconds to create a firm Brake Pedal until the brake caliper pistons and pads correctly position. Before finishing the brake master cylinder installation you need to make sure it reaches the correct fluid mark.
