GMC Safari Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Hood Cable on GMC Safari?
A: A suitable tool helps disconnect the cable from the hood cable by opening the clip before you pry the housing from the latch. First detach the cable from its fasteners that secure it to the radiator support and then ease the grommet out through the cowl opening. Start by disconnecting the cable from the cowl then remove the left cowl side trim panel. The cable assembly to cowl side panel screws need to be removed after pulling the cable through the cowl opening. Place the cable on the cowl front side before using screws to attach it to the cowl side panel and applying force of 2 N.m (18 lb in) for tightening. After reinstalling the left cowl side trim panel you should insert the cable assembly through the cowl opening until the grommet properly seats before fastening it to the radiator support fasteners. Use a suitable tool to clamp the cable clip before connecting the cable to the hood cable. You need to check that the hood functions properly before finishing the installation.
