A: Before you start work on the lower Control Arm Ball Joint you must lift and stabilize the vehicle. Take off the tire and wheel before going ahead. Take out the lower Control Arm according to proper methods for rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. Secure the lower Control Arm on the bench vice and strike 4 securing crimps from the Ball Joint body with a chisel. Put the Ball Joint in the press to remove it from the lower Control Arm. The new Ball Joint needs to be installed into place using the outer flange as a fixture. Position the lower Control Arm in a bench vice and use a punch and the original joint as references to install 4 crimps on the Ball Joint. Put back the lower Control Arm and position the tire and wheel after it. Lower your vehicle and inspect its wheel alignment at the end of the process.
