Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on GMC Savana 1500?
A: The first step to replace the evap canister purge solenoid valve is to remove the air cleaner assembly. Use your thumb to push the evap pipe quick connect retainer inside and free the evap pipe from connecting to the evap purge solenoid. The work sequence begins by disconnecting the electrical connector of the evap purge solenoid followed by uninstalling the evap purge solenoid mount bolt. Remove the engine-mounted evap purge solenoid together with its insulator to perform the replacement work. The insulator should be positioned on the evap canister purge valve before installing this valve onto the engine. Install the evap canister purge valve mount bolt and fasten it by applying a torque of 10.5 n.m (93 lb in). Install the evap pipe to the evap canister purge valve and connect the electrical connector. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly as the last step.
