The process of replacement for the right Exhaust Manifold on a 4.3l engine starts with tire and right fender wheelhouse extension removal before the base of operation. First disconnect the
Spark Plug Wires from the
Spark Plugs before removing the bolts and support for Spark Plug Wires and finally removing the spark plugs. Start by removing the
Starter and the
Catalytic Converter assembly while disconnecting the air pipe when present from the Exhaust Manifold. First remove Exhaust Manifold bolts from within the wheelhouse area before extracting the Exhaust Manifold together with its Exhaust Manifold gaskets and Spark Plug wire shields out of the engine compartment. Clean all gasket surfaces and sub-assemble new components of gaskets with Spark Plug wire shields and bolts to the Exhaust Manifold while securing bolts into gasket tabs. The first step involves mounting the Exhaust Manifold with additional installation of the air pipe when present and the Catalytic Converter assembly and the Starter. The spark plugs need to be reinstalled with proper tightening of the Spark Plug wire support bolts to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) before wire installation. The last step involves reinstallation of the fender wheelhouse extension followed by the front tire before lowering the vehicle.
