To service and repair the Timing Cover, start by removing the engine
Oil Pan, crankshaft balancer,
Water Pump, and crankshaft position (CKP) sensor followed by
Crankshaft Position Sensor seal (O-ring) which is to be discarded. Next, remove engine front cover bolts and after removing composite engine front cover, make sure to install a new engine cover than the original should not be used again. Clean any sealing surfaces before installing the new engine front cover and tighten bolts with 12 nm (106 inch lbs). It is of utmost importance not to reuse the original Crankshaft Position Sensor seal (oring); rather, lubricate the new seal using clean engine oil and fit it onto the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Make sure the ckp sensor is inserted flush with the engine front cover Crankshaft Position Sensor bore to avoid unreliable run. Lastly, replace the ckp sensor, oil pan of the engine, water pump, and crankshaft balancer.
